From the port of Taraco, we will navigate on the lake as local people do. With the wooden motorboats, we will navigate on the biggest lake of the continent. The lake will leave an impression of open sea. We'll visit the two small Islands of Sikuya and Suriki and their residents, before we'll reach the eastern lakeshores. Going along the shores we'll be stunned by the amazing show that the birds offer us. Ascencio and his friends will guide us through their favorite places and organize a shelter for us in the different communities we'll visit. This will be the opportunity to realize that the Andean Cosmo-vision is not dead yet.
Physical activity: These 3 days on the lake will be rather quiet. This part of the trip gives you precious time to acclimate to altitude, before we’ll start walking.
Climate: Due to its impressive amount of water, the lake tempers the climate of the Altiplano. Temperatures will be between 20°C by day and below zero by night. The air stays dry. Beware of the sun which is reflected on the surface of the water at 3810m.
