From Ingenio, an altitude village living from gold mining, we leave civilization for a while. With our new guide Jaime we begin a long road abandoned long ago along a ridge down to the foot of the Andes. The first three days are in the Andean grasslands (about 3500 masl), where the progression is easy. We will rest one day before entering the jungle. We will come out of it for the first time after three days of very strenuous marches. Emerging from the jungle we will walk in the meadows on the edge gently dying in the plain. Last day walking before arriving in Mapiri, a village of gold diggers, fried chicken, rice and chips, cold beer, a night in a hostel and a shower.
Physical activity: Again we do not plan very long steps. Max 5 hours of walking per day. A day of rest before the entry into the jungle. You will be given machetes. The path has almost disappeared. Your day in the Andean rainforest will be exhausting, but will offer a spectacle beyond description.
Climate: If from June to September the climate is very stable on the Altiplano it is because the clouds are not able to pass the barrier of the Andes. To get to the foot of the Cordillera, we cross this barrier to the clouds. Although we expect less rain during this period it would be surprising to fully avoid the rain. However, well provide you bags to keep your stuff dry. The climate is humid, the vegetation takes care to enrich the air oxygen, the lungs breathe quietly quietly again, the heat is bearable until the 2 last days.
