On the way to one of the most remote mountains of the Cordillera Real, Ancohuma 6427m offers us an incredible show with its sparkling lagoons, the seracs crashing down from the various glaciers, the surrounding three other peaks over 6000m and a night spent at 5700m.
Our mountain guide (IFMGA certified) will join us in the village of Sorata, with the equipment for the climb as well as fruits and fresh food. The ascent is made in six days, including a day of rest at the end or an extra day for acclimatization.
We will follow the normal route that requires no advanced mountaineering techniques. On the summit day we'll be split into 2 groups and entirely be equipped for the progression on the glacier. Back in Sorata we'll leave our mountaineering equipment and recieve provisions for the next step.
Physical activity: Mules and Carriers will bring some of our equipment and food to the advanced base camp. The days to reach the last camp won't be very tough. We'll have had more than enough time to get acclimated. However, the day of the ascent is very very long, and takes your breath away anyway. Arrival on top depends much more on your desire to do it as your physical condition.
Climates: From June to September the climate is very stable in the region and we are almost certain to enjoy a perfect weather. The temperature differences are even higher than on the Altiplano, but we provide you equipment accordingly to the climate. Again, a dazzling sky, 6000m above sea level, snow ... Beware the sun.
